Goodwood Festival of Speed
The 23rd to the 26th saw us at Goodwood festival of speed. This for many motorheads being the event to go to of the year. “it’s the most special weekend for motorsport ever. Grand Prix’s are spectacular, but this is just a standout event” Jensen Button, Formula 1 Star, we couldn’t agree more with Jensen’s comments regarding the Goodwood festival of speed show. With so many attractions to see it can be overwhelming where to start but for us and like many there we loved hearing the cars go up and back down the hill climb which saw many visitors popping to the bar for refreshments while they waited to get a glimpse of there favourite cars. If that wasn’t enough the F1 pit lane presented by sky was a real attraction as this led to fans being able to get up close and personal with the F1 cars which is a real treat for most motorsport fans. On the Sunday George Russell, Formula 1 Mercedes Driver, was there greeting fans and making a special visit to the show.
Other main attractions were electric avenue, this is a glimpse to where electric mobility uniquely accessible to everyone. Visitors were able to explore and compare different makes and models and learn more about the benefits of switching to electric. Next, we had Michelin Supercar Paddock, this was a favourite of the event staff who would often walk through it on there way to the bar each day to look at the supercars, in this paddock were the fastest, most technically advanced and beautiful supercars gathered for viewing pleasure. If the modern-day cars or F1 cars were not up your street Goodwood also had a Cartier Style et Luxe. Cartier Style et Lux is the finest concours d ’elegance in the world, where some of the rarest, the most beautiful and best kept cars can be seen in metal.
While there was plenty to look at Goodwood festival of Speed also had action areas. The one we could see all the way up the hill was the Forest Rally Stage, this attracted the die-hard rally fans, and they were able to see rally cars like the Lancia Delta Integrale and Audi Quattro. Not only were the cars at Goodwood but also found in Goodwood Action Sports were the adrenaline fuelled motocross and BMX bikers showing off their skills. Not only did we see the cars at Goodwood, but the red arrows made a flying appearance which delighted all the spectators especially as the weather was so nice it was clear skies to see them perform. Finally, the off road arena showed off the latest and greatest in off road machinery as drivers tested the outer limits of power.
The festival of speed this year was a event which for many was the highlight of the year and it was overwhelming to see how many smiles were seen but also how busy as a bar we were kept during the four days even to being completely sold out of draught lager, ciders and ales a event like no other it was a pleasure to be apart of and one for sure which we will gladly be attending again.
